How We Rate a Site

How We Score A Site

OLD SITE – to be updated

You will have noticed the scoring system we use for each review, and we are asked by users of mature reviews and by the site owners themselves how we arrive at our scoring…… So lets have a little explanation for each scoring category.

Content Quality

Self explanatory really, we looks at the content when reviewing a site and look at the quality of whats offered to the user. Quality comes in 2 types – firstly the actual quality of the photos and videos – so do they look good on the screen etc and secondly the quality of what the images or videos are trying to portray…. Of course all of this is wrapped up in the context that you are subscribing to a site.

Site Design

Does the site look good.

Navigation

How easy is it to find your way around a site to find the content you want. Many site designers concentrate too much on the actual graphic dsign of the site and forget that it must be simple, easy and quick for users to find the content they want.

Updates

Daily or near daily updates give a maximum of 10. Scales runs all the way down to zero, where we see no evidence of the site being updated.

Content Amount

No clear guidelines for us here. Generally the larger the site, the higher the score.

Price Vs Content

Simply is what your paying for a subscription reasonable for what you get back in return.

Unique Content

Is the content you see unique to the site or can it bee seen on other sites? Again, no clear guidelines for us here and we have to be led by the site owners a little. However, we spend most of our time looking at mature sites so we know what is unique and what isnt.

Video Downloads

Looking at the speed of the downloads, is there DRM (digital rights management) attached to the download.

Mature Reviews Score

Possible the most contentous of all the scoring, as this score is our gut feeling about the site. So a site could score highly in all the above categories, but we feel there is something not right so we score it low on this. Conversley, a site could score quite low, but it has that something extra about it, which you can quite put your finger on.. so it could be scored quite high in this category.
